Exercise 1: A shared History of Design Practice andContext

I uploaded my research images to the timeline and had a read of other students input. Some of the points I uploaded shared both specific periods of time as well as political and economic contexts. Others highlighted specific practitioners at certain periods of time that would have made an impact on the social, cultural, political, economic and environmental contexts of their time. It was interesting reading other student’s work, my research was different to theirs, both with design trends and architectural designs, but it was fascinating to see the whole timeline and how certain events over the last 30 years have made a difference and impact on peoples lives, helping and reinforcing my understanding of the wider contexts that inform interior design.
