I observed two seats. One is a seat in a car, the other a public bench.
I took photographs of each seat, sketched and annotated both to explore it’s size, material, purpose and design.
The car seat is a ‘moving seat. It is the drivers seat in my car, a comfortable and practical seat with the usual added functions of seat winder, headrest, seat adjuster and handle to move the sit forward and back to help people climb into the back seat. Does this seat serve its purpose? Yes it most certainly does!

I then used a darker pencil to draw around the outline of the car seat to add line weight and show the hierarchy and enhance the whole image.

The bench is a ‘public seat’ set in the grounds of Bhaktivedanta Manor, Hertfordshire. The setting is beautiful gardens where you can sit, on the bench (and others scattered around) to enjoy the peaceful sanctuary it has to offer. Based on wood that lasts a lifetime, I would hazard a guess that this bench is made from Teak, the letters look to be hand carved, it is the most comfortable bench I have ever sat on! Does this seat serve its purpose? Absolutely yes!
