Exercise 1.4: Site Analysis: Physical and Historical Context

Building on the research I have done so far I have carried out more in depth secondary research into the context of my chosen location.

Most of my research led to a site called the South West Heritage Trust, I found this site extremely useful and full of historic information. I was fascinated to find out that my chosen site was once used as a marketplace back in the 13th century. As the village has developed and grown over the last 800 years, this particular green site has been enjoyed in different ways but in a lot of similar ways, used as the village fete, christmas tree light celebrations, carol singing, ramblers sitting and taking a break, the list is endless. How intriguing that 800 years ago it was used as a marketplace with very few buildings in the village and now it is still appreciated as a green site, undeveloped, enjoyed by many people in many different ways.
