Project 1: Initial Research and Site Analysis

In order to design a pavilion I must first do my research to know what one is. Here is my digital presentation showing some historical and modern pavilions. There are so many different meanings of Pavilion. Some would have been built on the edge of a sports field where players could change their clothes and wash. They were also large temporary structures such as a tent, which could have been used at outdoor public events.

The most well known and documented in history is the Brighton Pavilion, back in 1787 the building underwent changes and was decorated in Neoclassical style. It was in 1802 that the pavilion was redecorated in the style of a Chinese garden arbour. By 1815 it was redesigned and the result is as it is today. This had an enormous impact on the prosperity and social development of Brighton.
